What about that podcasting? Hey, there sports fans, Al here with the latest:
With so much work being done on the new comic for Corpse Cop Number Four and stuff still being edited for “Last Monster on EARTH!” ( I need to get a hold of my editor on that topic) but the pandemic has made a little more difficult to be able to get things to and from people.
I am sure everybody has had the same kind of problem.
Anyway, I know that most people would say “Well what about Richard Parker?” Richard Parker‘s been kind of on hold for like the last couple of months and no big surprise that does happen from time to time but now as it looks I think that Richard Parker is moving into a new phase something interesting to tell you the truth I’m kind of excited about it actually and that is pretty awesome.
What do you mean by that? That is to say, Richard Parker has had some interest in one of my largest pieces of Richard Parker that I had ever done called “The Undersea Kingdom of Richard Parker”.
So since 2015, the piece sat without any takers. I knew doing it that it would be out of the price range for most of the people I deal with.
Until recently.
It has been purchased by a supporter of my work and it is going to a good home. This individual had commissioned me to do a couple of pieces (really good pieces in my opinion by the way)and he appreciates my work and he’s willing to pay the dollar amount that I was asking for that piece! Thank you, Mr. Parker!
This will allow me to move forward to do the podcast and purchase the materials and machines needed to make a podcast happen.
I couldn’t be more excited about this than anything else. I am very grateful that the piece is actually being bought because, in all honesty, I didn’t think anybody would ever buy it because of the price I was asking for it. The funny thing is the people who have seen it all know it’s a great piece but they can’t are or aren’t willing to allow themselves to part with X amount of money to purchase it. I get it. It’ll be the same way that the pandemic has made people cheap (because really, who has the cash to pay for frivolous things?) but if he is the gentleman who is willing to pay the money for it I’m going to put that money towards a good way of promoting the work even more.
With the purchase of said materials for a podcast I’ll be able to move forward promoting my work how and how I go about making that work it’ll be really cool to see how that works out. I’m excited about it I’m a little scared but I think I have a good set of blogs and topics to work off of that I can actually interview other people and it’s just a matter of learning the process and hopefully I’ll be out there the question is where to post.
Yeah, most people would say though that’s a pretty easy answer either you could do it on iTunes which I still I’m thinking about doing I’m also thinking about going to a company called locals which has been mentioned a couple of times by other podcaster‘s that I have great respect for. It seems that YouTube is slowly turning into a corporate entity unto itself and it’s catering more and more towards big companies because they have the money in the budget to be able to buy out the little guy. With that buy out it streamlines what can and can’t be said for reviews or individual viewpoints that are unpopular or misconstrued as something that they are not. I am a little distraught by the ways you have to be careful in what you say just off the cuff. really, in all honesty, the little guys who started YouTube in the first place so I might still post things on YouTube but it’s gonna be from this locals place first and I think that’s the way I’m going to go.
I am looking forward to the new way of promoting my work. I am pushing out new content about how I do illustration, why I do illustration, and those around me who drive me, and most of all respect. As individual creators both content-wise via the Internet and other mediums particularly Comics because that’s really what drove this had to happen in the first place.
And with that, I am outta here.
